LGU Vehicle Monitoring Project II
The LGU Vehicle Monitoring Project II is a transparency initiative of the PCSDI supported by the Partnership for Transparency Fund. The project covers 3 cities (Oroquieta, Pagadian, Dapitan) from 3 provinces and 2 municipalities (Aloran and Lopez Jaena) in Misamis Occidental.
Generally speaking, the LGU Vehicle Monitoring Project II aims to promote transparency and prevent corruption in the management, use, procurement and maintenance of LGU vehicles. Moreover, it also aims to strengthen the capacities of Transparency and Accountability Networks in selected cities to be able to realize their mandates and program thrusts.
What are the objectives of the project? 1) Strengthen the capacities of TAN’s/ CSO/ NGO’s in procurement monitoring & other transparency work; 2) Significantly reduce lavish/ corrupt expenditures of the LGU in the use, maintenance & procurement of vehicles; 3) Promote ethics in proper vehicle use and eradicate wrong practices; 4) Strengthen the procurement, monitoring and corruption-prevention capabilities of Transparency and Accountability Networks; 5) Enhance LGU policies and institutional mechanisms
Ending on November 2009, the project has been able to further the impacts of the LGU Vehicle Monitoring Project I. At least 7 million pesos worth of corruption money has been prevented. The PCSDI is now seeking ways to promote the use of the tools and ways to prevent corruption in the use of vehicles.
